Weigh-in Wednesday – Holiday Hoedown Week 4

Holiday Hoedown Challenge

This week: +1.6
Challenge: -0.6
Overall: -28.8 lbs

You have *got* to be kidding me. Almost back to where I started this challenge. I know why…I know exactly why. It’s because I did something that made me cry on Sunday, and then I blogged about it on Monday, which made me cry all over again, then people left me very nice comments, which made me cry even more. When I cry, I eat. Yup. And I don’t eat carrot sticks and apples when I cry…I eat sugar and fat.

Well, my group is not focusing on the scale for this challenge, so let me celebrate the things I did right this week.

  • Eat 4 fruits/veggies per day This one was kind of hit or miss for me. The good news is that I think I got at least 3 in every day except Sunday, which is an improvement over pre-challenge me. My challenge is that if I don’t start first thing in the morning, or at the very latest with a fruit-based mid-morning snack, then I’m really fighting a losing battle. Let’s say I was 4/7 for this one.
  • Exercise at least four days this week for 30 minutes each day Got this one in the bag. I was a little bad about getting this in late last week, which meant that I had to exercise Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to make my goal, but I did it. Got in 186 minutes of exercise this week!

So, even though the scale wasn’t reflecting it, I think I did pretty well this week.

Hang in there Barb… Remember that it is a difficult time of the year to maintain our “better” habits, and learn from your missteps, while giving yourself grace. You will have a great week this week!

and that’s the whole point of not focusing on the scale, cause sure you had a blip or two, but over all you did well at doing what you need to do. a little of that each week and you’re on your way to a more healthy you. 🙂

It’s hard enough this time of year to focus on healthy stuff even when the stress is good stress and not painful stress. You did fantastic! I was kind of late getting in my exercise, too.

(P.S. The scale can go suck a lump of coal. I was going to say something more rude, but I didn’t want to get on Santa’s Naughty List…well, for that, anyway! ;-P)

You’re doing so great, so definitely don’t focus on the scale. (I’m convinced scales remain on Santa’s naughty list all year round.)

If we start with the small things they all add up…sounds like you have made strides towards that goal….and at this time of year that is a big start to the “normal”. Good job for getting those minutes in.

Well good for you for realizing that the scale is just a number and that you had a victory with your choices this week! That’s a huge obstacle to overcome!
