Dumbo Inspiration

I’m not going to lie – I’m nervous about the Dumbo Double Dare that I’m running in 8 days. What is the Dumbo, you might ask. It’s a double race during the Disneyland Half Marathon weekend – doing the 10k on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday. So 19.3 miles over two days.

I have trained for four months, and I should be feeling confident. But my last long training run last weekend didn’t go as well as I had hoped. I was slow, and my overall run was done slower than the minimum Disney pace. To make my anxiety worse, I’ll be starting in the last corral, so if I don’t keep pace, there is no buffer of other corrals behind me. I have to be on my game on race day.

I need a little extra motivation for the race days – I want to run my miles for all of you! Here’s a chart of the miles, and who I’m running for. Add a comment if you want me to run one for you (and let me know your preferred mile, if you want) and I’ll add you.

    I think your build-a-bear should get a mile too, and your mister should be waiting at that mile marker for a picture.

    Brooke – You’ve got it! Sadly, my mister won’t be there — just me and Kirsten. Though, Jo (the Build-a-Bear who came to WDW) will be at the finish 🙂

    Gimme mile 7 – right in the middle, when things are maybe a little boring, and you’re kind of wanting to stop, maybe. Just remember you inspired me to fix the issues that have prevented me from running ever since I was a kid. *hugs*

    Like I’d only take one mile….my pride in what you are doing takes up way more miles than you will be running.

    Liam wants mile 4 of the 10K, and I want 5. On the half, give me 11. 🙂

    Is there an app or something that we can keep track of you on the races?

    @Sweetie – I have Facebook and Twitter updates set up through RunDisney – they will update every 5k or so, if it’s similar to Walt Disney World.
